My Turquoise Home

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was a wonderful one. Another weekend enjoyed with family and more firsts with Isla.

On Friday, I took the afternoon off and left Isla with her Daddy. I went out and finished all of my Christmas shopping except for 1 person!! I am so happy to have it all done. I have been trying to come up with traditions to start with Isla since this is her first Christmas. When I was at Chapter’s I found the Elf on the Shelf. I have heard about this little elf and wanted to see what the fuss was all about. For those that don’t know, the Elf on the Shelf is just that. It’s an elf that you keep around your house over the holidays. Every night before bed, you put the elf in a new spot. When your children wake up the next morning, they will search the house in excitement, looking for the elf. The thought behind it is that children much be good because if they are not, the elf will tell Santa and he will then know not to bring presents for the kiddies. The elf is also someone that kids can tell their secrets too and tell what they want for Christmas. I think it’s the perfect thing to start with Isla and I can’t wait to start other traditions with her!

Getting ready for the parade!

Beautiful floats!

When we got home from the parade, frozen toes and all, we relaxed on the couch and my Dad starting making funny noises at Isla and within minutes she laughed for the first time!! You want to see a group of four adults cry!?? Put a laughing and giggling baby in front of us. It was the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. My husband and I couldn’t believe it and we were so happy that her Nanny and Gramps were around to hear it.

We also decided to try her in her Bumbo chair for the first time since she has gotten so much stronger. She seems to love it and I am sure that it will only help with her strength. She was smiles the whole time and Daddy made her laugh again.

We are loving this time. Isla will be 3 months soon and everyday she is doing something different and we are enjoying every minute!

Do you have any holiday traditions you do!? I would love to hear them!

Thanks for reading!
