Surviving Our First Cold

My husband was starting to get sick while Isla and I were away at my parent’s for a few days. I hoped that by the time we got back, he would be better but no such luck! I got it and so did our babe! Her first ever cold. It’s so sad to see her not feeling well. She had it all; watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing and a little cough. This may sound weird but I feel that I am officially a mom now that I have wiped a runny and booger filled nose! Isla was generally in good spirits but made strange with some people. She just wanted to be with me. She knew that her mommy would make it all better! We kept an eye on her temperature and it stayed the same the whole time which was good. Her cold disappeared before Christmas and we now have our happy little girl back.

FridaBaby Nosefrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator

This is just how it sounds and is described. You put the end over the babies nose and gently suck the goop out on your end. This worked great for us and we only had to use it a couple of times. It really got everything out and Isla was so much more comfortable afterwards. She could breath better and wasn’t sneezing boogers out all over herself.

Kids Line ‘Miss Monkey’ Humidifier

We purchased this to help us all. We would wake up in the mornings and be so stuffed up including Isla. A couple nights with this going in our bedroom made all the difference. Isla would wake up not as congested. It definitely worked wonders on us all while we were sleeping.

Kleenex was also used around the house constantly. We use to always buy the cheaper brands but this time we decided to get the Kleenex that has the aloe in it. It prevented all three of our noses from looking like Rudolph…although I guess it would of been fitting for the holiday season!

Lastly, cuddles, naps and snuggles were the most important thing! Isla couldn’t of gotten through the cold without it…ok me too! I enjoyed the cuddles just as much!

Do you have any tricks for battling the cold!? I would love to hear them!

Thanks for reading.
