I don’t know about you but I sometimes find it incredibly hard to think of food ideas. I feel like I am always in a rut for ideas and inspiration. Not only do I have to keep my husband and I fed but we are now responsible for making sure this little human we created never goes hungry and is always full. Snack time for me is especially intimidating and more so being able to find stuff to eat on the go. Weekends are always filled with trips all over the place and I think that I have finally come up with a few tasty treats that Isla loves and that are convenient for me to pop in my bag and even more easy for Isla to eat on the go. Better yet, I feel that these are also going to be snacks that she will enjoy as she gets older. She is only 15 months old now but these are perfect for her tiny hands and the few teeth she does have.
Raisins – Do you want to see a toddler melt down?! Take these away from Isla…I dare you. These have got to be her most favourite thing to munch on ever. They are a healthy snack and the fact that you can get them in single serve boxes is even better. I pop them in my purse and they are always on hand and they don’t take up to much space.
Mum-Mums – I have mentioned these lots before and they are still very popular. I have tried branching out with the apple and strawberry flavours but she only seems to like the banana right now. These are great for her little hands, gluten free, baked not fried and are made with no artificial colours or preservatives which is always something I am looking for. Right now she is obsessed with hummus and loves dipping them in it. Of course I had to try dipping my banana in hummus too and I really don’t know what all the fuss is about? She is quite the gal!
Veggie Straws – Isla’s sitter mentioned these to me and the fact that Isla liked them so I had to pick some up. They are made with real vegetables and are very healthy. You can get them in a big chip bag or they are available in individually wrapped packages which again are great on the go. I love them too and they are a great snack while I am at work.
Food Pouches – We love these in our household. Lots of companies make them but few offer all natural, no fillers and all that stuff that’s important to us. Our favourite brands are Parent’s Choice Organics, Baby Gourmet and Love Child. When Isla is sick I feel like she looses a bit of her appetite. These she will always eat though. They are also great on road trips and when we are going to be out and about for the whole day. She sucks these things back like nothing.
Cheese Strings – I never thought about having these on hand until I picked them up randomly one night because they were on sale. Of course they were a hit and are probably one of the most convenient snacks ever! She loves taking bites of food now instead of shoving stuff into her mouth so these are perfect. Cheese has always been a favourite of hers!
Puffs – These were fantastic in the very beginning when Isla was just starting out with solids and they are still fantastic now. They come in a few different flavours and are organic and gluten free.
