My husband is a hard worker. He has always worked 2-3 jobs to be able to support his family and pay the bills. Recently, Dana got full time at St. Lawrence College here in Kingston where he has been working part time forever! I am so proud of him! Because of this, his hours have changed a bit and he has 2 days a week where he doesn’t work until the afternoon. He was so excited about having the extra time at home. We spoke to Isla’s sitter and now 2 days a week she spends most of the day with her daddy and then I pick her up at the sitters after I am done work.
I have to admit that I was a little nervous about this in the beginning. Not because of Dana watching her but because I was concerned that it would really interfere with the great routine that Isla has going on with daycare and her playgroup. I didn’t want her to miss out on playing with other kids and all the other things she looks forward too throughout the week. My biggest concern was her nap schedule because Dana would be taking her over a half hour later when she would usually be fast asleep. A couple of weeks leading up to this transition, we started seeing if Isla could last until 1:30pm without going down for her nap. She seemed to do great with that so now 2 days a week, Dana is Daddy Daycare! He gives her breakfast in the morning, a snack and then lunch. They play, sing, run around the house after each other, dance and laugh. Most importantly my husband gets to spend some quality time with his daughter which I know is something he doesn’t get to do as often as he would like to and because of that reason right there, I don’t really mind when I come home and the house looks like this because I know they had a fun day just being together. And better yet, Isla gets dropped off at the sitters and falls asleep within minutes. You really can’t ask for anything more. I hope that Daddy Daycare is in business for many more years to come!
Can you tell they had a fun day?!
More fun was had over here!
And they were doing Yoga apparently!
I hope you have a great weekend!
