Our Easter Weekend

Isla’s second Easter is in the books and it was a great one! We started Good Friday off with some serious playing outside. It was the only somewhat decent day all weekend so we took full advantage of it. Isla was to cool for school in her truck that she got for her birthday last year. She loved it and every time she would go down a little hill she would say “Weeeeeee”! How do kids just know how to say that?! Boggles my mind the stuff they come up with.

Twins! She loves turquoise too!

(This is only here because it is a really sweet picture!)

After we got back from our walk, it was time to play with some bubbles. Isla sure got a kick out of them. “Bubble” is one of her favourite words to say and she pronounces it perfectly. I am really hoping for a warm up soon.

Saturday I baked some Easter cupcakes. I found these on Pinterest and couldn’t wait to do them up myself. My version could be considered a Pinterest fail but I tried! I used the Betty Crocker Gluten Free Cake Mix so we could all eat them. I wasn’t sure what reaction I would get from Isla but I am glad I got a big smile out of her. She thought they were the coolest!

When my parent’s and sister got to our place, we had an Easter Egg hunt. After a few minutes she really got the concept and was looking for eggs all over the place and putting them in her basket. It was so cute!

After the hunt, Isla opened up her baskets. Baby girl was spoiled and of course all she wanted to play with was the plastic grass that was put in her baskets! Never fails! She thought it was the funniest thing ever!

In the afternoon, I started to get the table set for dinner. Dana cooked us an absolutely amazing dinner of lamb, potato cakes, root vegetables and yellow beets and topped it off with apple pie for dessert that my family brought. My cousin was even able to join us for dinner which was an extra treat.

And of course after dinner is not complete without some entertainment and Isla thought that a bucket on her head would do the trick!

On  Sunday, Isla, Dana and I went out to his dad and step mom’s for dinner. We had a delicious turkey dinner and she got Play Doh and some new clothes from her Nana and Poppa.

I hope you all had a magical weekend with your family and friends no matter how you spend it!

Thanks for reading!

Sounds like you had a fun and busy weekend. Gotta love when kids like the box, wrapping, or 'grass' in this case, more than the presents themselves. 🙂
