This weekend couldn’t of been any better! We spent it with family and all found out together what our little one is going to be. We kept it very simple with food and pink and blue streamers, balloons and cutlery and focused more on the cake we had made that would either tell us by pink or blue icing in the middle as to what we would be having. Before anybody could sit and mingle they had to place their vote. That crooked line there on the boy side is Isla’s vote. She has said it was going to be a boy from the very beginning and what do you know?! She was right!!!! IT’S A BOY!!!! We were so excited to cut into that cake and see blue icing in the middle. I was overcome with emotion. This whole time I have been pregnant I envisioned cutting into the cake and seeing blue. I also pictured Isla always playing with a baby brother but I never wanted to wish for it out loud because in the end all I ever want is a healthy baby. Dana was obviously super excited as he has been very vocal about having a son and everyone else was in shock and so happy to be welcoming a little boy into the family. I am happy for my parents as they had 2 girls so I know having a grandson will be very special to them. I am still in shock as I type this and spent most of the weekend in a fog giggling at every moment I got to say “my son” or “he will be so loved.” It’s surreal and we couldn’t be more blessed to experience life with a baby boy.
We spent the rest of the weekend doing all things Christmas. We took Isla to see Santa whom I thought she would be obsessed with but didn’t want anything to do with him. We had to coax her to say two words to him and she would only take a picture with us. Maybe next year. Of course she was all smiles afterwards and had no problem saying “Cheese” and giving big smiles while riding the tugboat at the mall.
I finished off my Christmas shopping by picking up a few last minute stocking stuffers and of course I HAD TOO make a trip to Carter’s and pick up a few outfits for baby boy and a newborn sleeper for the hospital.
I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking as the ones of us cutting the cake show our reactions perfectly! So excited my mom and sister also got videos for us to remember forever. Hope you have a fantastic week!
