My little sister is getting married in August and with that comes parties and bridal showers galore! We recently celebrated her upcoming nuptials with a tea party inspired by the beautiful city of Paris complete with flowers, lace and of course french macaroons.
The day was on the dreary side and a little cooler than usual but that didn’t affect the brightness that this day brought. We wanted everything to be colourful, classic and soft. My mom and I borrowed lace doilies, table cloths, pearls and a large assortment of tea cups and saucers from my Nana. She has the most gorgeous collection! My mom also has some gorgeous china that we were able to add. We purchased fake flowers and garland to use as decoration, my Nana brought some stunning peonies from her garden that added the perfect touch to just about everything and I made a pastel tassel garland and paper garland to hang in the window overlooking the main table. Pictures of the happy couple were placed throughout.
My absolute favourite touch to the whole setup were the teacups and saucers stacked inside of these cloches with an assortment of sizes! We added fresh and fake flowers with strings of pearls! They looked gorgeous and seemed to be a hit. Best of all they will be used at the wedding and will make great home decor after!
For food we kept it simple as it was an afternoon affair. My mom and I made delicious fruit cups topped with cool whip, cucumber sandwiches made with a herbed cream cheese, a gorgeous cheese tray that my dad made up and of course the stars of the table were the most beautiful and delicious french macaroons purchased from Card’s Bakery. A simple but refreshing punch with ginger-ale and cranberry/raspberry juice was served in champagne flutes with frozen raspberries.
We played a game called “How Well Does He Know His Bride” which was a hit and guests were also asked to provide date night ideas on popsicle sticks and guess how many chocolate kisses were in a glass jar. Some date night ideas included go-karting, fishing and going back to the spot that they first met and enjoy a bottle of wine. How sweet!
Of course the day was made perfect because of the beautiful bride to be, family and friends and the wonderful bridal party. Thanks for getting married Cali!
