There is no better time of the year than spring. It seems to ring more true for us Canadians who endure nearly 6 months of cold weather and snow. When April hits, you can feel the light at the end of a long tunnel. The days get longer, the air is a bit warmer and the birds start to sing. Call me crazy but there is also nothing better than a quick spring clean of your home. I say quick because it doesn’t have to be complicated. I don’t believe your whole house has to be turned upside down in order to make it ready for the changing seasons and I don’t think it needs to take up a whole sunny and beautiful weekend to do it. So I have put together a super easy printable checklist for you that will give you one thing to do every day for 7 days. At the end of the week, you can relax and know that your home is spring ready.Spring Clean in Just 7 Days Printable Checklist (63 downloads)
Spring Clean Your Home In Just 7 Days
Day 1 – Clutter Clear Out
This is the most important thing to do to get yourself ready for spring and summer. Throughout the winter, things can pile up. Now is the time to actually take those donation boxes to goodwill, do a quick once over through everyone’s closets and get rid of anything that you have said “I will use that soon” and it has now been months. Don’t overthink everything. Just a few unwanted items given to a new home will make you feel lighter.
Day 2 – Store All The Winter Gear
There is nothing worse than a packed closet of huge coats and boots when they are not being in use. Purchase something like this wardrobe rack to put in your basement to hang up anything that will not be in use until the next winter.
Day 3 – Clean The Windows
Grab yourself some glass cleaner and paper towel and clean all of your windows from the inside. When it gets nicer, try to clean from the outside too.
Day 4 – Dust Light Fixtures and Fans
Do not turn on your fans without giving them a dusting. The last thing you need is months worth of accumulated dust flying all over your room. Also, grab yourself a cloth and clean every light fixture in your home.
Day 5 – Clean The Fridge and Stove
These are two things that do not get done as much as they should. At least in my home, this is true. Wipe down your fridge and stove, throw out any old and expired food and make a list of any condiments that need restocking for the upcoming bbq season.
Day 6 – Dust The Baseboards and Clean The Floors
Grab a broom or a long duster so you don’t have to get on your hands and knees and give your baseboards some love. It’s one of those things you never remember to do but when you do, you immediately notice the difference. When you are done, move the furniture, put up the chairs and really clean that floor of yours.
Day 7 – Rake The Yard
Spruce up your yard for spring and summer fun. Grab a rake and get any leaves or garbage that have seemed to gravitate towards your lawn over the winter.
That’s it! Keep it simple and you will be ready to go. Let me know in the comments below what you do to get ready for spring!
