How We Became Three

One year ago today, our lives changed forever.
One year ago today, we knew that we had just received the most special Christmas gift ever.
One year ago today, I fell in love all over again.

One year ago today, my husband and I found out we were expecting.
My husband and I always knew that we wanted to have a family. I always knew that I wanted to be a mother when I was just a little girl. It was just in my blood to raise a family. Dana and I were married in August of 2011 and we figured that the next year we would start trying for a baby. I am a very organized person and everything for me has to have a game plan! It can annoy the crap out of people (especially my husband) but that’s just how I roll. Our plan was to start trying in the fall of 2012. November to be exact.

Dana decided we needed a second opinion and he went to the store again and got three more. I don’t have to explain anymore. This picture says it all!!!

We went to bed on cloud 9. I got up early the next morning and took one more because I have heard that is the best time take one. Once again it was positive. I called my doctor’s office to make an appointment for a checkup. They were able to fit me in the next day and “officially” the doctor confirmed on the 14th of December that we were pregnant! Now we had to keep the secret. My husband and I had family over for a big dinner on the 15th. We had decided that day that we weren’t going to tell anyone until we were at the 12 week point. We didn’t want to risk giving the good news and then God for bid having something happen in the early stages, so during dinner and all through the Christmas holidays I drank Club Soda out of a wine glass! Not that I am a big drinker but people would be asking why I wasn’t having wine with dinner and then everyone would start talking! One important thing I have learned is that you can put just about anything in a wine glass and people will think it’s booze! They bought it though and keeping the secret just got harder. On boxing day is when I was 6 weeks pregnant and like clockwork the nausea started. Luckily feeling like crap 24/7 only lasted through the first trimester.
On January 18th, 2013 we were able to tell our family and friends. Needless to say it was a very special time in our lives and it has only gotten better. Now, almost a year later, we have been blessed with the most amazing little girl that continues to change our lives for the better every day. I am so grateful that the Lord has chosen us to be her parents.
Thanks for reading.
