My Turquoise Home

Our Easter Weekend

We had a wonderfully perfect Easter weekend that we were blessed to enjoy with our family and Isla. I had so much fun his year planning Easter brunch with Dana and going out to search for the perfect gifts for Isla’s Easter basket.

On Good Friday, my mom, dad and sister came down to spend the day. We had an absolutely amazing brunch that my husband prepared. He really outdid himself. He made bacon, Mexican inspired scrambled eggs with chorizo sausage and avocado, gluten free waffles, roasted asparagus and tomatoes, roasted potatoes and some delicious fresh fruit. Sounds fantastic doesn’t it!? Add that with some great company and you have a perfect mid morning meal. It was also fun for me to set the table and give everyone a little treat at their seat.

 Looks amazing doesn’t it!?

After brunch Isla got to open her Easter basket from her grandparents, her auntie Cali and Dana and I went ahead and gave her her basket as well. Everything seems to excite her and she got spoiled with some fantastic gifts! She really seemed to love her new sunglasses, her Frozen movie and an outfit that her auntie got her. You can see everything that we got Isla here!

After stuffing our faces, we hung around the house and watched Frozen and ate more chocolate! Surprise, surprise!

On Saturday, we went out to my father and mother in-laws and had a ham AND turkey dinner! You can probably here my belt buckle slightly stretching right?! We had a nice afternoon there and Isla got to open up her Easter gifts. My favourite gifts she received was the Velveteen Rabbit book and her Bunnykins bowl and plate collection. Such a generous gift from her Nanna and Poppa

She loves cards I am noticing.

On Sunday we relaxed around the house and tried not to eat any chocolate without very much success. We read Isla her new books that she received in her baskets and read her the devotion of how Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again. We told her about the true meaning of the holiday. She was fascinated with the pages of the Bible and would almost pet them as if they felt soft to her. It was quite funny to watch.

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend. What was the most enjoyable part of the weekend for you? Did you eat a lot of chocolate? I know I did and STILL am as I type this! Help me….please!
