Mother’s Day Weekend

Hallelujah! We finally saw some beautiful weather this weekend. You know you are in Canada when you go from crappy weather to 30 degree weather all in one week. I am not complaining though. It was hot and humid for most of the weekend and we literally spent every waking minute outside. It was the best and soooooo long overdue.

Friday I was more then happy to see the clock strike 5pm and to be done work for the weekend. I picked up Isla from the sitters and was surprised with some flowers that she made all on her own as well as a beautiful candle for Mother’s Day. It was so sweet and she was so excited to give it to me. Later that night we had a couple friends come over and had a fire. It was so nice to spend the evening outside.

Saturday morning started out a little later then usual. Apparently I have to start setting my alarm because we all slept in until 10am. Even Isla! I couldn’t believe it but I guess we needed it. We spent all day outside. Isla and I played with her Shady Oasis Water Table, went sliding, played with Marley, had snacks which included hummus and chips (Isla’s new favs) and relaxed in the shade. Dana and I also did some yard work, removed the super old and rusty shed that was becoming an eye sore in our backyard, put down some new dirt and grass seed and cleaned all of our windows inside and out. I even managed to start a new book while Isla had her nap. High five to productive weekends! In the evening we had our first BBQ of the spring and took Isla’s Smart Trike out for a spin before bed.

This morning Dana got up with Isla and I had another little sleep-in. After Isla was done her breakfast she came into our room and I heard her say “mommy, mommy” and she was stretching her arms out to see me. She was so excited to give me a morning hug. That right there was all I really needed for Mother’s Day! It’s all I ever need. I was brought coffee in bed and a delicious omelet that Isla helped make. She also surprised me with the cutest card I ever did see and a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure! How they knew what I wanted I will never know! #igavealotofhints

It was supposed to be a rainy day today but the sun was shining! Isla and I went to the park while Dana was at work and we watched The Little Mermaid. Dana brought us home some dinner and then we took a family trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things for the week. Perfect end to a perfect weekend!

I hope all you momma’s out there had a great Mother’s Day and were shown lots of love and I can’t wait to be with my mom next weekend!
