The day of L-O-V-E is almost here! If I’m being completely honest, I have never been one to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I don’t just tell my husband that either in hopes that he will figure it out and actually get me a gift. I think the concept of celebrating your love and all that jazz is great, but the pressure it puts on people to go out and buy stuff just doesn’t appeal to me. Because of this, my husband and I usually don’t make a big deal out of. We prefer to stay in and do something we both enjoy that won’t cost us a lot of money. Through the years we have enjoyed these 5 inexpensive ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day together.
5 Inexpensive Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Day
Prepare A Nice Meal At Home – My husband is a chef by trade so I certainly don’t mind when he cooks me dinner. This is usually what our Valentine’s night consists of. A deliciously home cooked meal after the kids are in bed that didn’t involve us making reservations or paying for an overpriced roast. We don’t get dinners alone often so this is always a nice treat.
Sip Wine By Candlelight – If you don’t get to do the whole dinner thing, a nice bottle of wine will do. Light some candles, turn off the tv and just be with each other. Talk about something other than the day you just had or your kids.
Sleep In – This is all I need for Valentine’s Day! My husband to take the kids away and allow me to sleep in if even for a half hour. Life would be perfect!
Exchange Homemade Cards – Super cheezy but make each other a card. Raid your kids craft supplies and create something fun and on the inside write a little message that’s truly from your heart. You just saved yourself 10 bucks. You’re welcome!
Buy Eachother Chocolate…The Day After – This is the best part. Chocolate is the most wonderful thing ever but it’s even better when you wait until the day after a holiday and get it on clearance. This is when my husband and I usually exchange a chocolate shaped heart or two. So much better when it’s on sale!
